Building Financial Security for Pharmacy Professionals

The Pharmacy Professionals Association of Uganda (PPAU) SACCO was established in January 2026 following a unison resolution by the PPAU AGM 2025, with a shared vision of empowering pharmacy professionals — especially pharmacy technicians/dispensers and pharmacy assistants — through a strong culture of saving, responsible borrowing, and collective investment.

It was observed and recognized that while pharmacy professionals play a vital role in improving healthcare, many continue to face financial challenges that limit personal growth, professional advancement, and business development. We therefore came together to establish a member-owned financial institution that addresses these needs and creates lasting economic opportunities.

PPAU SACCO is more than a savings and credit cooperative; it is a platform for unity, financial discipline, and shared prosperity. By saving and investing together, we are building a financially resilient community where members have access to affordable credit, opportunities for wealth creation, and long-term financial security.

Through the SACCO, members can finance business ventures, establish pharmacies and drug shops, drug dispenseries, and also pursue further education, acquire assets, and achieve other life goals with confidence.

We believe that the success of our SACCO depends on the active participation, trust, and commitment of every member. Together, we are laying a strong foundation built on transparency, accountability, integrity, and sound governance to ensure that members' savings are managed prudently and that the SACCO continues to grow sustainably.

Comprehensive financial solutions tailored for pharmacy professionals

Regular Savings

Build your savings with flexible monthly contributions. Earn competitive dividends on your savings at the end of each financial year.

  • Minimum monthly contribution: UGX 30,000
  • Competitive annual dividends
  • Withdraw anytime after 6 months

Quick Loans

Access fast funds when you need them most. Loans should not exceed your basic salary. Repayment is recovered monthly through salary deductions.

  • Loan amount not greater than basic salary
  • 10% interest per annum on reducing balance
  • Repayment period not exceeding 3 months
  • Recovered monthly via salary deductions

Requirements

  • Minimum 6 months membership
  • Fully filled loan application form
  • Passport photo
  • National ID / Driving Permit
  • Bank statement showing monthly salary and existing deductions
  • Must have 50% of shares and savings for the loan amount applied for

Development Loan

Fund your personal development projects - home construction, land purchase, or home improvement. Available to members with at least 6 months of savings history.

  • Up to UGX 30,000,000
  • Up to 24 months repayment
  • 1.5% monthly interest

Business Expansion Loan

Grow your pharmacy business with our special business loan. Available to members with at least 6 months of savings history.

  • Up to UGX 50,000,000
  • Flexible repayment up to 36 months
  • Business plan support provided

Emergency Loan

Face unexpected financial challenges with confidence. Available to members with at least 6 months of savings history.

  • Quick approval within 48 hours
  • Up to UGX 5,000,000
  • Minimal documentation required

Free financial education workshops and resources to help members make informed financial decisions and build wealth.

  • Completed the SACCO membership application form
  • Submit two passport photos
  • Paid membership fees of UGX 20,000

PPAU SACCO was founded on a shared vision of empowering pharmacy professionals through a strong, member-owned financial cooperative. Recognising the financial challenges faced by many professionals in accessing affordable credit, building sustainable savings, and achieving long-term financial security, we came together to establish a SACCO founded on the principles of integrity, accountability, inclusiveness, trust, and sound cooperative governance.

Our mandate is to mobilize members' savings, provide affordable and sustainable financial services, promote financial literacy and investment, and empower pharmacy professionals through prudent cooperative management.

Every initiative we undertake is guided by our unwavering commitment to improving the economic and social well-being of our members while building a financially resilient pharmacy profession.
